People in Egypt dress more “modestly” i.e. women and men cover up and showing too much flesh is not acceptable. If women wear skirts/dresses they make sure it’s below the knees if not the ankles. So that’s something to be aware of.

People in Egypt, and in Muslim countries in general, use this phrase before each meal time or before they do anything. Inshallah means “God willing” which a lot of Egyptians use as well as they consider everything is in God’s will. The more you know the better.

Learn Egyptian Arabic: Egyptian Arabic is one of the most recognizable dialects of Arabic after Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) or “fus’haa” as it is referred to in Arabic. That’s quite understandable when seeing how much influence Egypt has on the rest of the Arab countries in the Middle East. 1. Start off with the very basics, learn the Arabic alphabet. Become familiar with the different sounds and the way each letter looks.
2. Move on to single words, nouns and verbs.
3. Learn the names of objects in Arabic.
4. Try using interactive Arabic language games that will help you learn.
5. Move on to learn simple, everyday phrases like hello, goodbye…etc.
6. Listen to Egyptian Arabic songs to become more familiar with the accent.
7. Also try watching Egyptian films with English subtitles.
